Hydro-agricultural developments for reduced hardship

Impact on Farmers

Hydro-agricultural developments for less hardship and greater results.
Hydro-agricultural development enables farmers to improve both their productivity and income. By gaining better control over key production factors such as water and soil, they can increase their yields not only in quantity but also in quality.
Modern irrigation infrastructures strengthen the climate resilience of agricultural production systems and enhance farmers’ living and working conditions.
Beneficiary farmers can thus cultivate several crop cycles per year and diversify their production according to market demand, without being constrained by water availability.
As such, hydro-agricultural development stands out as a key driver for improving the performance and attractiveness of the agricultural sector.

From furrows to pressurized irrigation networks

From small ditches to pressurized systems: a drop’s journey

Modern irrigation systems, such as pressurized pipeline networks, enable efficient water use and reduce losses. Small ditches, which are open channels, have been in used to transport water to crops since 6000 BC in ancient Mesopotamia in the Fertile Cresent Region between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Irrigation techniques have evolved over the centuries up to present day, the transformation to modern day techniques was influenced by the increased need for sustainable climate smart irrigation techniques. Pressurized networks, on the other hand, allow for more precise and efficient water distribution, improving crop productivity and quality.

Gérer l’eau, c’est gérer l’espoir

Water reservoirs play a crucial role in water management in agriculture. They enable water storage during rainy periods and its use during droughts. Water reservoirs reduce dependence on rainfall and allow farmers to plan their production. They also contribute to regulating water flows and preventing floods. Water reservoirs are a vital tool for farmers seeking to improve their resilience to climate change.
